Digital communications toolkit
Tools & Platforms
The most useful tool is the one that helps a team communicate clearly and get the work done. Besides basic office tools, these are some that I have used to manage content, collaborate with colleagues and make information easier to access.
Content Management Systems
I have worked most extensively with Drupal, SharePoint and Optimizely (formerly Episerver). I have also used WordPress and Contentful. My work has included publishing, supporting editors and improving content structures and workflows.
Lately I've gained experience with website-building platforms. I used Google Sites to create the first version of my personal website, and I am now building this latest version using AI.
Artificial Intelligence
I use AI tools to explore ideas, test ways of explaining a topic and support editing. I review their output carefully, especially when accuracy, tone or confidential information matters. I have worked with tools including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Copilot and video tools. They help me create something new efficiently, this site being an example. But one thing I've also learned is, that nothing replaces the human touch in communications, be it with words or visual.
Other tools
I have used Jira, Confluence, Miro and Slack to coordinate work across teams and with partners. For communications production, my experience includes newsletter tools, Photoshop, video editing tools and Infogram for data visualisation. I choose tools according to the audience, the content and the team’s way of working.
I continue learning new platforms, but I am most interested in how they help people understand information and collaborate effectively.
